Three Successful Tips for Working From Home

So your boss told you that you are working from home. So now what?

Most likely you received little guidance because your boss probably doesn’t know the exact details other than you need to make it happen.

Well, let me tell you I have worked from home for the past three years for a government contracting company.

Basically I do some administrative work on my company computer while also finding time to work out, take my kids to school, or take them to a doctor’s appointment while also finding time to myself.

I don’t work a full time job but have averaged 20 to 30 hours a week. A few times I went over 40 hours when the workload was very high trying to meet some deadlines while orchestrating multiple tasks. But that’s another story.

Take care of you

The key thing you need to do in addition to your job, you need to work out. Since I am a morning person, it wasn’t hard for me to workout in the morning but I had to get up even earlier than I did while serving in the Army. Sounds crazy right? Well some work calls were scheduled early since a lot of the daily operations were based on East coast time which is two hours ahead of me. So I had to get an early start.

My day started with going to the gym or going for a swim. I hung up my running shoes since I didn’t have to run to get a decent score for an Army physical fitness test. Now I only ran if my kids had a school event when…
