Helpful Letter #26

Hello fellow writers,

First, Happy 4th of July to all my American writers! Independence is more than just the movie Independence Day. Americans have a lot to be thankful for their freedom and those who fought to make this possible.

Second, a few minutes ago I was going to skip writing to you today but then I thought of an idea on what to write other than Happy 4th of July.

You’re a writer, and writing is possibly at the top of your list on things to get done. But there is one thing more important than writing.

Family comes first

If you have a family, your family should come first.

When you have kids, you know that sometimes they want your attention. You have to give them your attention because before you know it, they’ll be adults living their own life.

Spend some time with them and share your knowledge and your mistakes with them. It’s best if they hear it from you.

How to write while on vacation

You probably know that I love to write. When my wife mentioned let’s go away for a few days. As a writer you think, how will you get any writing done?

Somehow I managed to keep my writing going.

For this trip, I took a road trip. When I wasn’t driving, I spent some time to draft my next article. I was able to write my draft in the notepad on my phone.

The articles weren’t my typical articles about money or writing, but about my hotel stays. They may not do well for me as a writer, but it could get me a travel badge since I tagged the articles with that. So we’ll see.

It’s good to take some time off with your family and a trip may give you some new ideas to write about. A change of scenery is always good.
